Heyo! I'm Mors, a game designer and programmer from Turkey, and one half of Distant Illusions. I love making polished, juicy games that feel just right.
I love making games, and I've been doing so for over 15 years, on all kinds of engines and platforms... even the Nintendo Switch! Chances are you've already played, or at least heard of one of my games. My main expertise, though, lies in GameMaker, where I'm probably best known for pushing it beyond its limits.
It all started with Game Maker 5 as a kid, making (terrible) fangames, and sharing them on online forums. Over time, people actually started liking them. Some even went viral! That made me think, "Hey, maybe this could be something more than just a hobby!". Since then, I've made countless games, sometimes in small, sometimes in larger teams. I even got a degree in game design!
I also managed to convince Opera (the browser people who now own GameMaker) to pay me to make games for their Opera GX gaming browser. One of those games, Operius, even became the browser's built-in offline game!
That led to Operius DX, which I self-published on Steam and Nintendo eShop, handling all the porting and the soul crushing bureaucracy myself. My work also went on to appear at Gamescom (twice!), get licensed by sites like Coolmath Games, and be featured by outlets such as Engadget, Kotaku, PC Gamer, Nintendo Life, as well as many major gaming and tech YouTubers.
I also occasionally share my thoughts and ramblings on a variety of different topics over on my blog at the Distant Illusions site, mostly relating to game development, tech, and whatever else pops into my mind. Go give it a look!
